Founded in 1828, Erlau AG is a leading manufacturer and exporter of industrial chains.

Over forty years ago, following the introduction of the wheeled loader, Erlau adapted their snow chain technology to overcome the vulnerability of the earthmover tyres (tires) to puncturing and excessive abrasion.

Thus was born Erlau's famous Tyre Protection Chains and their original link-ring systems; a technology that is protected by over 400 patents worldwide.

In 2000, Erlau merged with Rud – also a manufacturer of chains and tyre protection chains – since when all development, manufacture and supply of tyre protection chains (TPCs) has been concentrated in the Erlau brand.
