Belting For India Coal Mining

Fenner Dunlop, one of the world’s leading producers  of conveyor belting for mining and other industrial applications, has opened new factory in India.

Located approximately 15km from Madurai, the new facility will produce Fenaplast, a solid woven PVC impregnated conveyor belting.  The factory houses a state-of-the-art, vertically integrated production process based on that used at the company’s solid woven manufacturing facility in the UK, which also provides technical and engineering support to the team in India.

With 90 billion tonnes of reserves likely to last 60-70 years, India ranks as the third largest producer of coal in the world.  A quarter of coal extraction in India is from deep underground mines where India’s stringent safety standards require conveyor belts with fire proof and electrical resistant properties.

The Maduria facility is strategically located to meet the needs of India’s coal industry and the expected expansion on coal extraction globally.

Founded in 1861, Fenner has twelve manufacturing facilities in eight countries, producing over 5.5 million metres of conveyor belting per annum. The product range includes rubber plied belts, solid woven PVC belts and steel cord belts, which can be manufactured to any length, colour, finish or thickness up to 2200mm wide. Depending on belt type and application, tensile strengths range from 80 N/mm up to 7500 N/mm.

Fenner has belting to meet the demands of all mining applications, both above and below ground
