Zimplats is a platinum development and mining company with significant assets in Zimbabwe. The company holds around 165 million ounces of platinum resources in the Great Dyke of Zimbabwe, comprising the majority of the Hartley Geological Complex.

This is the largest known near-surface undeveloped platinum and palladium resource in the world. These assets position Zimplats as an important future supplier of platinum from an alternative source to traditional supplies. Zimplats will provide investors with unique exposure to the emerging Zimbabwean platinum industry.

IMPLATS LIFTS STAKE IN ZIMPLATS TO 79%

Zimbabwe Platinum Mines Limited (Zimplats) says that Impala Platinum Ltd’s (Implats) unconditional cash offer to minority shareholders of A$4.08/ share closed on August 29 as scheduled and Implats now owns over 79p.c. of Zimplats.

Immediately before the offer closed, several large minority shareholders sold their shares.  In view of these late acceptances, Implats has now indicated that it intends to stand in the market for Zimplats shares at the offer price of A$4.08/share until September 11 for any remaining Zimplats shareholders who may wish to sell their shares.

Meanwhile, the counter-offer to Zimplats minorities from Barbican Holdings remains active and further announcements are awaited.
